What the Law Actually Requires (Waypoint 2)

Last time, we covered what the law actually requires and where to find your state’s specifics. If you skipped it, go back — this waypoint depends on it.

Here’s the difference between reading a post about the law and actually knowing you’re covered: one is information, the other is proof you can point to at 3am when the fear shows up uninvited.

This week’s exercise: pull up your state’s requirements — from the earlier post, from HSLDA directly, wherever you found them — and write your own one-page checklist. Notification, attendance, recordkeeping, assessment. Your state’s specific answer next to each one.

Don’t just read the requirements again. Write them down, in your own words, in a place you’ll actually see. That act — writing it in your own hand or your own document — is what turns “I think I looked this up once” into “I know exactly where I stand.”

If you already built this checklist while reading the earlier post, even better — pull it out now and make sure every line is filled in, not just started.

“Here’s what I found for [my state]’s homeschool requirements — did I miss anything a new homeschool parent commonly overlooks?”

A second pass never hurts.
